The basics

What is a business credit card?

A business credit card is a revolving credit facility a funder issues to your business for everyday spending — keeping business and personal finances separate while smoothing cash flow.

Capital on Tap issues a Visa-based business credit card built for UK SMEs — apply online, get an instant virtual card on approval, and your physical card arrives within two to three business days. It's designed for everyday spending: stock, travel, subscriptions, and the costs that come up unplanned.

It suits businesses that want to keep card spending separate from their main account, earn something back on money they're already spending, and issue staff cards without losing control of limits. Guavas arranges the fit; Capital on Tap sets the terms and issues the card.

Get the most from it

Using a business credit card well

Tip

Clear your balance every month

Clearing your card in full inside the 42-day window keeps every purchase interest-free and protects your cash flow.

Tip

Set per-card limits from day one

Give employee cards a sensible spending limit before you hand them out — it's easier to raise a limit later than to claw back overspend.

Tip

Sync your accounting software early

Connect Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or FreeAgent as soon as your card is active, so reconciliation happens automatically.

Why it pays

What you get with every card

Uncapped 1% cashback

Every pound your business spends earns 1% back, redeemable straight into your business account — no cap, no threshold to clear.

Up to 42 days interest-free

Breathing room on every purchase before any interest applies, so short-term cash flow gaps don't have to slow you down.

No hidden fees

No FX fees, no ATM withdrawal fees, and no annual fee at all on the Free plan — transparent pricing from day one.

Personalised credit limits

Limits are set from £1,000 and can grow up to £250,000 as your business grows and your track record builds.

Is a business credit card right for you?

The card is designed for UK-based private limited companies and LLPs.

Good fit if

  • You want to keep card spending separate from your main account
  • You want to earn something back on money you're already spending
  • You want to issue staff cards without losing control of limits

Probably not a fit if

  • You are not a UK-registered limited company or LLP
  • You have been trading for less than 12 months
  • Your annual turnover is under £24,000
  • There is an unsatisfied CCJ against the business or applicant in the last 12 months

What Capital on Tap looks at

  • Whether you are a UK-registered limited company (Ltd) or limited liability partnership (LLP)
  • A minimum annual turnover of £24,000
  • At least 12 months of trading
  • Any unsatisfied CCJs against the business or applicant in the last 12 months
  • Your status. Capital on Tap makes the decision.

If a card is not the right fit, Guavas can look at business loans or invoice finance instead.

The process

How it works

  2. We confirm a card suits you.

We check a business credit card is the right call for your situation, comparing it against the other Finance Solutions Guavas arranges.

  3. Apply to Capital on Tap, which decides.

With the fit confirmed, you apply directly to Capital on Tap with a few business details. Capital on Tap reviews your application and tells you its decision.
